100 children from ten West Dorset schools attended the Official Schools Tag Festival at Bridport Rugby Club.

The weather, though windy, was fine. Bacon sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs donated by Morrison’s “Support the Community” were available, and fortified with food, the children gave their best on the field of play.

The competitive spirit was high, and although St. Catherines were the eventual winners, Greenford’s many draws meant that Parrett and Axe crept into second place. The standard of rugby was high, and any athletics coach present would have seen future talent amongst the speedy boys and girls. A good time was had by one and all, with everyone home in time to see England beat Italy in the Six Nations.

The festival will again be held next year at Bridport Rugby Club, whose organisation of the event was complimented on by West Dorset Schools Officer, Nadia Dailey.
